Roasting broccoli brings out a deep savory flavor like nothing else. This garlic parmesan roasted broccoli is going to change your mind about broccoli. We even love it on it’s own for a meatless meal for the two of us.
Roasting broccoli
Almost every child I keep loves broccoli roasted. My family loves it too. You don’t have to use garlic and parmesan but it makes it oh so delicious. You can try it both ways and see what you think.
Broccoli is super good for you and a lot of people think they don’t like it because they haven’t had it prepared well. This technique gives it the most flavor and best texture of any I’ve tried. You can roast most any veggie this way and come up with a ton of tasty treats.
How to roast broccoli
To roast vegetables, just cut them into bite-sized pieces, sprinkle your seasonings over the top on a baking sheet, and drizzle with some olive oil. Toss it well and cook it in the oven until done. This garlic parmesan roasted broccoli recipe is so good because toasty parmesan cheese makes everything awesome.
A tip for cooking broccoli with any preparation is not to cook it too long. If you overcook it, it loses that bright green color and tastes mushy and bitter. Watch it closely, there’s a sweet spot between not cooked enough and grey and lifeless.
Garlic parmesan broccoli
The flavor profile for this garlic parmesan roasted broccoli recipe can be changed to meet your tastes as well. Many people like a little spice in their food, so sprinkling it with some red pepper flakes would be delicious. A squeeze of lemon over the top would make it bright and fresh.
Another great way to change it up is to cook a few slices of bacon, cut up into small pieces until they are crispy, then add the bacon and the drippings from the skillet to the broccoli with your seasonings and toss the broccoli in that instead of olive oil. The garlic parmesan combination is my family’s favorite, but any of these ideas would be delicious too.
The trick to learning to like more vegetables is to keep trying them in different ways until you find the one you like. Your body will thank you for it. It even works with kids. Check out more ideas for picky eaters in this article: Lunch Ideas for Picky Eaters.
