Paper plate crafts are versatile, easy to make, and perfect for children of all ages. Here are some fun and creative paper plate craft ideas:

  1. Paper Plate Animals: Turn paper plates into adorable animal faces by adding ears, noses, eyes, and mouths using construction paper, googly eyes, and markers. Create a whole menagerie of animals from lions to owls to fish!
  2. Paper Plate Masks: Cut out eye holes and a mouth opening from a paper plate to create a base for a mask. Decorate the mask with paint, markers, feathers, glitter, or any other craft supplies to transform into a superhero, animal, or fantastical creature.
  3. Paper Plate Sun Catchers: Cut out the center of a paper plate and decorate the rim with colorful tissue paper or translucent beads. Hang the sun catcher in a window to catch the sunlight and create a beautiful stained glass effect.
  4. Paper Plate Flowers: Cut a paper plate into petal shapes and decorate them with paint, markers, or crayons. Attach the petals to a paper plate base to create a vibrant and colorful flower that will never wilt!
  5. Paper Plate Tambourines: Staple two paper plates together with dried beans or beads sandwiched between them to create a simple tambourine. Decorate the outside of the tambourine with paint, stickers, or ribbon for a personalized touch.
  6. Paper Plate Puppets: Turn paper plates into puppets by attaching craft sticks or wooden dowels to the bottom of the plate. Decorate the top of the plate to create a character’s face, then use the puppet to put on a puppet show or act out stories.
  7. Paper Plate Fish Bowl: Cut out the center of a paper plate and decorate the rim to look like waves. Use construction paper to create fish, seaweed, and other underwater creatures to place inside the “fish bowl.”
  8. Paper Plate Clocks: Use a paper plate as the base for a clock face and add numbers, clock hands, and decorative elements using markers or stickers. This craft not only reinforces learning about telling time but also allows for personalization and creativity.
  9. Paper Plate UFOs: Paint a paper plate silver or metallic and add a small paper cup or upside-down bowl in the center to represent the cockpit. Decorate with buttons, foil, or stickers to create a futuristic UFO.

Ingredients

  • Paper plates
  • Cardboard rolls
  • Acrylic paints – red purple, pink
  • Cardstock – red purple
  • Twine
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Tape

Instructions

  • Begin by painting a paper plate in your Valentine’s Day themed color of choice. Let the paint dry completely.
  • When the paint is completely dry, carefully insert scissors into the center of the plate and cut away the inner circle.
  • Then, pour a generous amount of paint on a flat surface like a paper plate. Also, gather toilet paper sized cardboard rolls. You will need one roll for every paint color stamp used.
  • To make a cardboard roll into a heart shape, fold in the top of the cardboard and pinch the bottom of the roll.
  • Now, dip the heart shape into another paint color.
  • Stamp hearts around the paper plate.
  • Continue stamping until the paper plate is full of hearts.
  • Next, cut hearts out of cardstock. You can make them any size and as many as you’d like.
  • Glue the hearts to the bottom of the paper plate.
  • Finally, finish the heart wreath by cutting a strand of twine. Tape the twine to the back of the paper plate in a loop to hang and admire this super cute Valentine’s Day wreath craft.
