Preschool science activity
Preschool science is a great way to introduce young children to the world around them and help them develop their curiosity and problem-solving skills. Here are some fun and easy science activities that can be done with preschool-aged children:
- Sink or float: Fill a tub with water and provide objects such as rocks, toys, and leaves for the children to predict whether they will sink or float.
- Color mixing: Provide primary colored paints and let the children mix them together to make secondary colors.
- Planting: Plant seeds in pots or in the ground and have the children observe and care for them as they grow.
- Magnet exploration: Provide magnets and various objects to see what is magnetic and what is not.
- Shadow tracing: Place objects on a piece of paper in direct sunlight, and have the children trace the shadow and observe how it changes throughout the day.
- Ice exploration: Freeze small toys or objects in ice cubes and let the children experiment with ways to melt the ice.
- Sensory bottles: Fill clear plastic bottles with materials such as glitter, beads, and water, and have the children observe and shake them to see what happens.
- Insect observation: Catch insects and place them in a clear jar with holes for air, and let the children observe and learn about them before releasing them back into nature.
- Simple machines: Provide simple machines such as pulleys or levers and let the children experiment with them to see how they work.
- Baking soda and vinegar reactions: Mix baking soda and vinegar together and observe the chemical reaction that occurs.
- Bubble Science is another great way to study science with kids.
- This Fun Magic Dancing Rice Science Experiment for Kids is a fun way to see cause and effect and chemical reactions too.

This fireworks in a jar activity is a great 4th of July idea, a great science idea, and a great hands-on activity for kids. It’s important and fun to celebrate holidays and special days in daycare too. I think your kids are going to love it. Not only is it fun, it’s inexpensive and you probably already have everything you need to do it. And here are some patriotic snacks to add to the fun too.
