Making lemon infused water is a great way to quench your thrist, get more hydration, and add health benefits to your water. I love making infused water recipes all summer long with things we grow in our garden.
Even the smallest changes in your routine can have a big impact on your health. If you add just 1 more glass of water per day into your diet, you can improve your health by quite a bit, so think what it will do if you add several. Many people don’t like to drink plain water, but infusing it with some herbs and fruit you enjoy will help you drink more and the herbs and fruit have added health benefits.

Ginger lemon infused water
The most popular lemon infused water I make is ginger lemon. People love the flavor of ginger with the lemon in the water.

Basil infused water
My favorite herb to pair with lemon is blue spice basil. It’s this gorgeous basil that smells like bubble gum. It tastes super bitter, but when infused in water, the sweetness permeates the water instead of the bitterness. It’s amazing if you can find it. I grow it every year and I love it. If you want really great filtered water, check out a Berkey from Big Berkeys, I totally recommend using it for filtering your water for optimal health!
Ingredients:
- 16 oz water
- 2 slices of lemon
- 1 sprig with 8-10 leaves of blue spice basil (If you can’t get that and want to use basil, use 4 leaves of Genovese basil)
Directions:
- Place ingredients in a container
- Cover and refrigerate for 8-24 hours
How long does lemon infused water last
Lemon infused water will last in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Infuse it for 8-24 hours and then remove the fruit and herbs so they don’t turn it bitter. I like to make it one day, drink it the next, and then refill it to re-infuse overnight. You can do this 3-4 times with the same fruit and herbs. I feel like that is less waste. Then you can eat the fruit or compost all of the ingredients.
