Running a home daycare is lots of fun! Making it fun for you is a great way to avoid burnout in a job that can be all-consuming and is pretty challenging at times too. Kids need the best of you, so enjoy being one of them when you can.

If you like doing special activities and crafts for holidays or celebrating special days, do it! If it’s overwhelming and too much for you, don’t do it. I love to party, but I don’t always love making cutesy food, so I ask my daycare parents to do it.

And some of them bring packaged treats that are simple, while others LOVE showing up with stuff like this so they do that. You do you and get the rest filled in.

Here are some fun ways to celebrate Halloween:

Healthy Halloween treats

Just because you’re celebrating, doesn’t mean it has to be all junk food. You can add fruit or wholesome ingredients into your treats and still have a great time.

These creepy eyeball meatballs are a great example of spooky fun that can actually count as lunch too! They would even be creditable on the food program. Especially if you make your own meatballs homemade. I make big batches of them and put them in the freezer and the kids LOVE them!
